recordings: Memory Field

Memory Field

An album of music for strings, composed by Dan Trueman. Some are for string quartet in scordatura—or cross-tuning, in the fiddle world—and others include Dan on Hardanger fiddle and Hardanger d’Amore, the music emerging from the various fiddle and contemporary music worlds he is part of. All feature the Bergamot Quartet at their adventurous, omnivorous best, while virtuoso bassist Logan Coale joins for a few tunes as well.

Quartets, Quintets, Sextets… cross-tuned this way and that.
